The 76-mm divisional gun model 1942 (ZiS-3) is a legendary Soviet artillery piece from the time of the Great Patriotic War.The ZiS-3 became the most mass-produced Soviet artillery gun of World War II — more than 48,000 units were manufactured.It was actively used from 1942 onward on all fronts.

Thanks to its successful combination of power, mobility, and simplicity, it became the true “workhorse” of the Red Army. It effectively fought against German tanks (especially early and medium modifications), infantry, and fortifications.

The Germans highly valued captured ZiS-3s and sometimes used them under the designation FK 288(r).After the war, the gun remained in service with the USSR and many other countries for a long time (in some armies until the end of the 20th century). It can be seen in museums around the world.
