A silver Roman signet ring with an agate intaglio depicting... no, not a cross at all, but an anchor with two fish hanging from it—one of the earliest symbols of Christianity in the Roman Empire. Dating to the mid-3rd century CE, it was found in the ruins of the Roman fort of Vinovia near the village of Binchester in County Durham, northeast England.
