The Soviet Model 1940 bayonet-knife (M1940) for the Tokarev SVT-40 self-loading rifle.
This was the first mass-produced Soviet "knife" bayonet (previously, the Mosin-Nagant used needle-shaped bayonets). It greatly influenced subsequent Soviet AK and SKS bayonets.
Brief history:
Developed for the SVT-40 (and to a limited extent for the SVT-38).
Produced in small quantities compared to Mosin-Nagant bayonets (the rifle was relatively rare).
Seen in World War II, particularly in 1941–1942.
Many examples underwent arsenal repairs after the war (re-blueing, new grips, etc.).
