A completely gold ceremonial akinak sword from the Achaemenid era, Iran, dating to the 5th-4th century BC.
Found in Ecbatana (modern-day Hamadan, central Iran), one of the capitals of the Achaemenid Empire. Combat use of such a sword is ruled out; it was a ceremonial weapon, demonstrating the owner's status. Unfortunately, gold is a rather soft metal, which is evident from the sword's curved blade. The sword's length is 43.2 cm.
Unfortunately, information about the exact location and circumstances of the artifact's discovery is not publicly available. It was likely purchased privately.
